PURCHASE OF SERVICES AND EQUIPMENT TO BENEFIT THE PATIENTS
This last year the "Friends" did not receive so many requests from the Management of the Nightingale Macmillan Unit for new equipment or services being due to the impending move to the site of the Derby City Hospital (now the Royal Derby Hospital) which took place in May of 2009.
The "Friends" have had various meetings with the management, who looked at enhancing the various areas that the Unit now occupies and where it would benefit the patients and carers coming into the New Unit. The "Friends" have and are currently involved in the funding in relation to all areas. We have in the meantime funded the installation and purchase of twenty televisions, one for each patient and mobile internet facilities. The 'Friends' have also furnished all the requirements for the Chapel and funded artists to provide paintings, glass panels and ceramics for the walls and decor in the reception area.
