Fund Raising Events Thank you for supporting us in our year to March 2009. Although we endeavoured to streamline our own planned fund raising for the year, we were involved with 37 events, directly or indirectly we either arranged fund raising events ourselves or attended events organised by individuals, companies or organisations who fund raised on our behalf. Whilst we looked forward to the coming year and the Nightingale Macmillan Unit's move to its new location on the site of the Royal Derby Hospital we streamlined our fundraising further since we were aware that we would not have the storage facilities that we had previously. We had to arrange our outdoor fundraising events well in advance and as such we had booked locations for table tops and concerts and have written to supermarkets for possible collections. We had originally hoped to be able, as the 'Friends', to manage a shop within the Nightingale Macmillan area when the move took place but we found that this would not be possible for such a small committee/member group. We would not be able to manage a shop for the number of hours required. This was very regrettable since we felt that we could provide a good service to patients, visitors and staff. Our timetable of fund-raising events for 2009 was as can be seen on the appropriate page. We had table tops at the beginning of the year in order to sell
the items that had been generously donated to us in recent times since we do not have the same opportunity of selling these items now that we have moved.
All proceeds from our events go directly to the supply of additional equipment and services, with the aim of improving the quality of life of those cared for by all the marvellous professionals and volunteers at the Nightingale Macmillan Unit. | ||||||||
